The William Greenleaf Eliot Society’s members are leaders in supporting the Annual Fund, which provides the University’s critical margin of excellence in its mission of teaching, research, and service to community and society. Eliot Society members together represent the most generous and committed supporters of Washington University. Your annual Eliot Society contribution, when combined with those of other members from across the nation and around the world, is the largest source of unrestricted funds for the University. These gifts enable Washington University to respond to current priorities and opportunities to enhance its educational programs and resources.

ELIOT SOCIETY FACTS AND STATS

Eliot Society funds are used for:

  • Student assistance programs
  • Sponsored Scholarships
  • Faculty development and recruitment
  • Educational resources
  • Facility improvements
For the first time in over a decade our membership declined to 4,896 members, a drop of nearly 4%. These results were not unexpected due to the challenging economic situation, but clearly we have much work to do in the year ahead. The goal in 2009-2010 is to obtain a total Eliot Society membership of 6,500 and a total Annual Fund of $20.8 million by June 30, 2010.
